Evidently the Waynesville Area Chamber of Commerce supports the Ohio Renaissance despite being informed of Equal Access issues. Is Peter Carroll and the Ohio Renaissance Festival their largest business? How much money does Peter Carroll donate to them each year?
Is the Waynesville area filled with corrupt officials who will go to great lengths to protect their multi millionaire citizen Peter Carroll? It sure seems like the Waynesville Area Chamber of Commerce will. Listed on the official web site of the Ohio Renaissance Festival, one would think they would be a good place to file a complaint. After all, the purpose of a Chamber of Commerce is to promote commerce and we disabled Americans spend money like anyone else. Well it doesn’t seem like the Waynesville Area Chamber of Commerce sees it that way.
I sent email to the Waynesville Area Chamber of Commerce. I received no reply. I called the Waynesville Area Chamber of Commerce to express my disgust that the Ohio Renaissance Festival does not seem in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act and Equal access. I explained that I was a disabled American. I was told that it sounds like I had a personal agenda.
I informed her that I do have a personal agenda. I am a disabled American and asked her for her name. She told me it was “Dawn”. When I asked her to spell her last name, she hung up the phone after basically telling me sorry about your luck.
During the phone call, I was repeatedly told that the Ohio Renaissance Festival was a member of the Waynesville Area Camber of Commerce and as such they will support that business. They did not seem to care one bit about the rights of disabled Americans. Although I will freely admit that my tone became other than civil after she demonstrated her undying loyalty to Peter Carroll and the Ohio Renaissance Festival, I feel her actions were entirely inappropriate and hope she does not speak for the whole of the Waynesville Area Chamber of Commerce or its members.
At first I thought I had gotten ahold of some low leval office manager. Looking at the website for this organization, the only Dawn I can find is Dawn Schroeder who is listed as the Executive Dirrector. My heart sunk.
